Well things are moving along now. The end is in sight. The engine mount assembly was a bit of work but it came out well. I used an alternative for the bushes because I couldn’t source the ones suggested. All the holes and the rubbers were cut with hole saws of different diameters . If you use steel that has been drilled out to the right centers under your cuts it stops the saw from wandering over the material. The hull was flipped over and all the glassing was done on the mount but first a lot of time was spent making sure that the motor shaft was on the center of the transmission. The motor has now been mounted and test run. Yay !! Very satisfying !! The cut out for the shaft and flex coupling was done as shown and the duct was given its final coat of paint. The two transmission support panels were made and fitted. It seems to hold the top of the tower quite strong which was comforting ! The airflow guide panels were made up from the plans. What I did was lay a sheet of CSM on some plastic sheet and epoxy the paper cutout onto it. When that side was dry I turned it over and layed some F/G cloth onto it and the rolled it up to suit the formers. When it was dry it was turned again and another layer of cloth covered the csm. This has prove quite strong and they will now be fitted under the deflector plates with glassed up flanges and wellnuts. We are now moving along quickly and the next major job is the fan guard so I can get the blade spinning safely.
