Trevors build 14

The deck and duct has been painted with two pack epoxy paint.  I didn’t get a perfect finish in some spots as the F/G mesh tended to show through. I think it would have needed a lot more time and spot putty all over to give a glass finish but not this time.  The fan guard was made up from 50 x 50 square weldmesh of 4.00 mm thickness cut to 1200mm diameter.  A   6 mm  rod was rolled up to size .Before I welded it up I used a rubber mallett on one side of the mesh only and hammered out from the centre all the way around . This gave a nice dished guard which is a lot stiffer.  The ring was then welded on both sides  I made up clips from small flat bar around the 6mm rod and drilled to suit.  The ring was then fitted up to the duct with 6mm wellnuts.  Its very strong and will hold any runaway blades.     While I had the craft upside down for the engine mount I went all around and fitted the skirt holding strips .I predrilled them all in a jig. Much easier.   There is a couple of shots of the made up glass flanges being fitted on the deflector plates and duct. When they are dry they will come of and be sanded and painted ready to fit.
