Coming soon – new plan set

For the past few months I’ve been creating plans for a new model of personal hovercraft – The “PMR Series”.

Series because it’s not a set of plans for just one model of craft but for four. Four in the sense that it’s the same planform shape offered in four different widths – from 1864mm (6’ 1”) to 2344 (7’ 8”). The Series widths are PMR3, R3, R4 R5. The PMR2 is the same size as the PMR1.

Added to that the plans accommodate stretching the craft at each size to suit the builders needs.

The plans are also modular meaning that there are alternative designs for some of the elements: fairings, seats, skirts, even options for an integrated single fan craft or separate lift and thrust.

The plans will be offered in PDF form supported by CAD files for some of the panel shapes.

There are improvements in the build processes too, reducing waste and shortening build time.

And performance has not diminished – excellent plough-in resistance, improved seakeeping and freeboard, more buoyancy built in.

But still maintaining the same objective of using off the shelf components where-ever possible and requiring only modest handyman skills and tools to build it.

The plans are in pre-release now, being proofread and checked. Although there is definitely enough to start with for the avid builder.
