Trevors build 2

I have had a few weeks delay waiting for my materials to arrive. During the wait the full size plans were printed and carefully aligned and checked for correct scale. They were then taped together to form a sheet for cutting the cores. We have also sourced skirt material from PM’s suppliers list and my number one girl was given the task of making a skirt to test her skills and the sewing machine. No worries! When the core sheet arrived I set about joining some strips to the sheets as the “Gurit” is slightly undersize. I formed a hinge with masking tape which made it easy and produced a nice flush joint. A whole day was then spent cutting the sheets. A steel straight edge and a nice new “Stanley” type knife did the job well. I tried a few methods to cut the airfeed holes out but found that a jigsaw set on an angle produced a quick and neat cut. A timber jig has been made up to start the build but the grandchildren are coming for a few days over the school holidays so I might just pack things up for now.

    Two very clever tips:

    • Use tape to create a hinge line to join foam pieces together
    • Cut the airfeed holes with a jigsaw at an angle.

So looking forward to other build innovations.
