Description
PMX10 Rounded Cap Finger Extended Segment
The PMX10 is a new way of making extended segments.
It draws on the features of the advanced skirt systems like loop finger and bag finger.
The PMX9 is described as a curved cap finger (see the PMX90 for a straight cap finger). The upper part of the PMX10 is called the Cap and the lower part, the Finger.
The Cap is similar to the upper part of the PMX4 segment, made from two sides and outer face. It requires sewing a straight edge to a curved in – slightly more complex than usual skirts. However the difficulty is worth the smooth round lines that it produces.
There are options for a single or multi-material finger and options for finger to cap connection: bolted like the common method used on loop finger skirts or sewn, as used on many of the PMX skirts.
Non-exhaustive tests have shown that the Cap and the Finder don’t need to be fully joined, improving the performance of the segment when snagged. There can be two separate inner ties, one for the cap and one for the finger. When the finger tie releases, the segment will still be held in place, providing a superior level of seal.
